Much
to the delight of visitors, and locals as well, the Oklahoma
City Metro area has some wonderful and unique shopping opportunities.
We have 4 large shopping malls within a 15 mile radius that
are all anchored by major department store chains, food courts,
salons and movie theaters. If you are a consumer with a taste
for the more “specialty or boutique” style shopping
choices, you will be tantalized by the abundance of choices
you will have. Items that range anywhere from unique clothing
and accessories, gifts, home/yard décor, food, stationary,
art, hand made western wear and tack, homes, antiques, cars,
jewelry and anything else your heart may desire, can easily
be found in our little city we are proud to call home. While
shopping in Oklahoma City, one will rarely find themselves lost
in trying to find their favorite shopping destination due to
the well designed and convenient layout of the metro area.
Major Shopping Malls
Oklahoma City and the surrounding metro area is home to 4 shopping
malls that are anchored by major department store chains including,
but not limited to; Dillard’s, Foley’s, Sears, JC
Penney’s, Pottery Barn and Eddie Bauer.
Quail Springs Mall is located on the intersection of Memorial
Road and Pennsylvania Ave. just off the Kilpatrick Turnpike.
It has 3 levels, a children’s play area (sponsored by
the Daily Oklahoman), AMC 24, 2 salons, 2 restaurants and an
impressive selection of stores and services. It has entrances
off of Penn and Memorial and ample parking. There is also a
very wide variety of restaurants, hotels and other stores and
services located around the exterior of the mall.
Penn Square Mall is located in the heart of OKC. It is conveniently
located on the corner of the Northwest Expressway and Pennsylvania
Ave. and just off of I-44. This mall has 2 levels, 4 entrances,
food court, 3 salons, 2 restaurants and a movie theater. It
is home to the only Pottery Barn and Pottery Barn Kids in the
metro area. The Dillard’s in Penn Square is one of the
largest in the region, occupying both levels of 2 wings of the
mall. There is a large shopping strip containing a Wal-Mart
Super Center, Linen’s N Things, Ross, Old Navy and many
more stores and restaurants, within 1 block of the mall.
Crossroads Mall is located in the south side of OKC. It sits
at the intersection of I-35 and I-240. It has 2 entrances and
2 levels with ample parking. It is the largest mall in the southern
metro area. It has a wide variety of major department stores,
as well as a food court and restaurants. There are many major
stores located just outside the parking lot of the mall.
Sooner Mall is located just off of I-35 south in Norman, home
of the University of Oklahoma. It is a single level mall, but
has the major department stores that the larger malls have.
It has 2 main entrances with ample parking and is very conveniently
located. It has many nice restaurants, hotels and shops surrounding
the parking lot.
Specialty and Boutique Shopping
Oklahoma City has some very unique and upper scale shopping
areas. There are many boutique and specialty shops in downtown
Edmond.
North Park Mall is a single level mall that is located in NW
OKC at the intersection of May Ave. and 122nd street. It has
a movie theater and 2 restaurants, Shogun and Tommy’s.
The only shops and stores that occupy this mall are specialty
and boutique retail. A shopper looking for the very unique or
special gift will be pleasantly overwhelmed with the choices
available here.
The Nichols Hills Plaza is located in Nichols Hills just off
of Western and NW 63rd street on Avondale. The plaza is a strip
style shopping center that sits on the north and south sides
of Avondale in beautiful downtown Nichols Hills. The “plaza”
is home to many upper scale, high end retail shops. It has 2
deli style “cafes”, Scotty’s and The Saturn
Grill. There is a Starbuck’s occupying the corner space
just off of Western Ave. and the famous Nichols Hills Drug Store
with an old fashion “fountain” grill inside, a favorite
for the locals, on any given day, there is standing room only
to eat here. The Crescent Market has been in the plaza for almost
100 years. This grocery store is family owned and is the only
grocery around where you shop on red carpet and get your groceries
carried out by boys that know your name and are dressed in a
shirt and tie. If you are in need of an unusual food or specialty
item that you can’t find anywhere else, chances are you
will find it here. There are many clothing shops for both men
and women, including, CK and Company and Haggard’s, Linen
and Monogram Cottage, Red Fox, On A Whim (a Mckenzie Child’s
retailer), I Want Cards, The Body Shop and many, many more.
It has several salons, a personal training facility and decorating
and design shops as well. It is nestled on a tree lined street
where you can see and hear the bell tower clock going off every
hour.
50 Penn Place is located on the corner of Pennsylvania and the
Northwest Expressway, just off of I-44. It is across the street
from Penn Square Mall. It is in a high rise building that also
occupies many businesses other than retail on the upper floors.
The first two levels are retail and has many wonderful choices.
The Full Circle Bookstore is a favorite of locals and is locally
owned, it offers a small sandwich menu and the ambiance of a
cozy book boutique. You can find “fine” art and
unique pieces in the art store next door. There is a William
Sonoma, Two Peas in a Pod, Laura Ashley and many more clothing
shops. It is home to Harold’s, the famous clothier that
began in Oklahoma. Balliets is a local favorite and a favorite
of anyone that has some extra money burning a hole in their
pocket. This is a very upscale store that carries Prada to Hermes.
This is one stop shopping for those looking for clothes, shoes,
accessories, make up and a salon. It is a truly awesome shopping
experience.
The Western Avenue Shopping District stretches along a 3 mile
section of Western Ave beginning at Wilshire Ave and stretching
south to NW 36th street. Scattered along the beautiful scenery
through Nichols Hills and Crown Heights are numerous specialty
shops, art galleries, antique shops, restaurants and salons.
This is fun on a day when you have the day to enjoy shopping
and can start at one end and work your way down, shopping, eating
and getting pampered. Your journey down the “HIP STRIP”
will not leave you disappointed.
The Paseo District is a historic district in Oklahoma City located
off of NW 36 and Shartel. This is known for it’s very
“artsy” shopping choices and ambiance. The unique
and unusual can be found here as well as getting the pleasure
of some of the most talented artists in the area. There are
some restaurants, including The Galileo, and some bars and nightlife
as well. It is a very quaint district that has some amazing
architecture. It is nestled on a street with the original “Paseo”
entrance columns greeting you as you begin a truly quaint shopping
experience.
Western Apparel and Tack Shopping
Stockyards City is located in the heart of downtown OKC. Located
just blocks off the I-35 and I-40 exchange and just blocks from
the historic Bricktown area and the central business district
(CBD) of Oklahoma City, Stockyard City is a wonderful opportunity
to find authentic goods and services Western style! Merchants
and artisans abound here and a shopper looking to find top name
brands, as well as handmade items, including western apparel,
hats, boots, belts, spurs, saddles and the like, will be overwhelmed
at the choices. Many craftsmen that work in Stockyards City
create custom ordered, one of a kind items, which are shipped
to buyers around the world. There are many unique restaurants
located in the area as well, including the famous Cattleman's
Steakhouse. It will be a truly delightful experience for the
whole family to enjoy.
Teners
Western Wear and Shepler’s Western Wear are two other
choices when shopping for Western apparel and tack. They are
both located just off of I-40 and Meridian. These store are
very large and have a large stock of things to choose from.
You will get an authentic Western experience while shopping
in both of these stores. They are both very conveniently located
and are surrounded by hotels, restaurants and other shopping
choices.
